Harness Training

Working at height poses a number of inherent risks. One of the biggest causes of fatal accidents at work is falling from height. Employers are responsible for ensuring that employees, including managers and supervisors, are given the correct safety equipment and are provided with adequate training to use the equipment properly.

The harness training course from Reax Ltd ensures that employers meet the legal requirements of the Working at Height Regulations 2005 in ensuring that all employees can correctly use safety harnesses and other associated equipment. This half day course is suitable for all employees that will be required to work at height, to ensure that they understand how to safely wear, use, attach, and inspect their safety equipment.

The course is conducted at the REAX Ltd simulation centre, based in Blackpool, Lancashire, and conducted by our highly qualified and experienced instructors. The Working at Height Regulations 2005 aim to ensure that anybody working at height receives the proper training to do so in a safe manner. Falls from height are among one of the biggest causes of fatal accidents in the workplace. It is vital that all individuals that will work in elevated positions have received appropriate training to keep themselves and others safe.

Harnesses should be fitted and worn correctly at all times. The harness training course teaches proper harness fitting. It teaches how to safely adjust the harness, providing the wearer with a reliable and safe fit. Delegates will also learn how to properly attach associated equipment and accessories including lanyards.

Participants will learn about different forms of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and anchor systems. Finally, candidates will be taught how to attach work restraint systems that offer safe access to exposed edges and understand how to safely ascend and descend ladders.

Who Needs This Course?

  • Course duration – 0.5 days
  • Recertification period – 3 years

The safety harness training course is suitable for any employee that will be working at height and is required to wear a safety harness. The course lasts approximately half a day and is taught at the REAX simulation centre in Blackpool.

Participant Requirements

  • No previous experience or qualification required
  • Candidates will need to show a reasonable level of fitness
  • Candidates should be comfortable working at height
  • All participants must sign a medical suitability form before the course starts

Although no experience or qualifications are required to take this course, any experience of working at height or any previous safety training will be beneficial. All candidates will need to sign a medical release form before they start training.
