Harness Training

Recommended For

Any persons who may be required to use a harness in carrying out their duties allocated to them. The course will give information on fall arrest devices and safe movement on a structure at height.

Course Objective

To be able to fulfill the requirements for persons expected to work at height in line with the Working At Height Regulations 2005. To be able to inspect personal equipment and recognise defects and the correct procedure to record these issues. To enable all persons to work at height safely.

Course Content

The Working at Height Regulations 2005.
Safe systems of work.
Methods of fall protection.
Existing safe working platforms.
Anchor identification and selection.
Work restraint systems.
Work positioning systems.
Fall arrest methods.
Risk assessing, identifying hazards and planning the work task.
Inspection care and maintenance of harness and associated equipment.

Skill Base

Fitting and adjustment of harness
Understanding practically the use of the energy absorbing lanyards.
Fitting and use of work positioning equipment.
Correct use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) anchors and anchor systems.
Use of work restraint systems to gain access to exposed edges
Methods of ladder climbing.

No pre-course requirements.

Medical Requirements

A Reax statement of medical fitness to be signed prior to the commencement of the course. A reasonable level of fitness will be required to complete the practical element of this course.
