CABWI Level 2 Award in Working in Medium Risk Confined Spaces

The CABWI Medium Risk Confined Space Training course is a level 2 training course that is aimed at those that are required to work in confined spaces. This not only includes individual workers but may also include managers that are required to supervise, assess or oversee any work completed.

The courses teach the safe entry and exit of such spaces, the identification and use of appropriate safety equipment, and the proper monitoring of gas and atmospheric conditions in the space. The Medium Risk Confined Space Training course also teaches the basic use of escape breathing apparatus, and how to identify when this equipment should be used. The course is open to anybody with a reasonable level of physical fitness and that does not suffer from claustrophobia. This qualification will help ensure that your company and employees meet the Confined Space Regulations 1997.

REAX Ltd has a dedicated simulation centre, where participants will take part in both practical and theoretical training. We are fully accredited to offer all levels of confined space training. Our instructors are fully qualified, and experienced, to help ensure that everybody receives the correct training to safely work in what can be difficult conditions.

Who Needs This Course?

  • Course duration – 2 days
  • Recertification period – 3 years

REAX Ltd regularly trains workers and individuals in a variety of safety courses. Confined space training, medium risk courses, should be undertaken by any individual that works in this type of environment. Tanks, silos, sewers, vats and trenches are some of the environments that might be considered a confined space.

As well as individual workers, you will need to ensure that managers and supervisors also have adequate training. They will often need to assess, oversee, or sign off completed work, which means that they may also need to access the same spaces.

The course lasts 2 days and is valid for a period of 3 years. Participants will need to retrain within that period to ensure that they meet legislation.

Participant Requirements

  • Participants will be required to undergo some physical exertion
  • No previous experience needed
  • Students should not suffer from claustrophobia
  • Students must sign a medical form before commencement

In order to safely take part in the training, all candidates must be able to work in a dark space without aid or assistance. It will also be necessary for any candidate to sign a medical release form, stating that they are medically fit to be able to complete the work. Candidates should not suffer from claustrophobia, because they may be required to work in tight and confined areas.
