Tower Mast Rescue Training

Recommended For

Persons who are required to climb lattice towers and telecom structures and who are required to carry out work tasks at height in exposed locations. This course is a basic tower climber course and does not cover any RF awareness instruction. This is an Arqiva accredited course.

Course Objective

To enable the user to access the tower structure safely and allow them to use all WAH safety equipment including work restraint, work positioning and fall arrest systems. To understand risk assessments and method statements and to enable a simple work task to be undertaken at height.

The Working at Height Regulations 2005.
Safe systems of work.
Methods of fall protection.
Anchor identification and selection.
Work restraint systems.
Work positioning systems.
Fall arrest methods.
Understanding of suspension intolerance.
Risk assessing, identifying hazards and planning the work task.
Inspection care and maintenance.
Carrying out a simple work task at height.

Skill Base

Fitting and adjustment of harness.
Fitting and use of twin lanyards.
Understanding practically the use of the energy absorbing lanyards.
Fitting and use of work positioning equipment.
Correct use of PPE anchors and anchor systems.
Methods of ladder climbing.
Practical use of fixed vertical fall arrest systems.
Movement around a tower structure at height.

No pre-course requirements.

Medical Requirements

A Reax statement of medical fitness to be signed prior to the commencement of the course. A reasonable level of fitness will be required to complete the practical element of this course.
