Course Objective

To give the candidate an awareness of legislation relevant to Manual Handling. Overview of requirements of relevant legislation. Consideration of Manual Handling injuries and factors which increase the possibility of injury. Give candidates an awareness of risk assessment of Manual Handling tasks. Raise awareness of ways of avoiding Manual Handling. Awareness of ways of reducing risk of injury.

Anatomy.
Relevant Legislation.
Safe Systems of work for Manual Handling.
Risk Assessment. Practical Manual Handling Assessment.
Theoretical Assessment.

Skill Base

Awareness of Manual Handling Legislation.
Awareness of common injuries.
Ability to identify measures which could reduce the risk of injury.
Ability to assess simple manual handling task.
Carry out a task using correct manual handling techniques.

Medical Requirements

A Reax statement of medical fitness to be signed prior to the commencement of the course. A reasonable level of fitness will be required to complete the practical element of this course.
